Grace Sighting: D Breidinger - 09/18/08
Last fall when we were gathered to worship together at William Tennent High School, God did an amazing thing. You may recall that as part of that worship service, I presented a preview of the Giving By Grace campaign and I mentioned that we would be kicking-off the campaign in late 2007.
The presentation expressed the four goals of our Giving By Grace campaign; "Getting Ready for Company"- Design and installation of a new sound system ""Keeping Our Word" - Construction of a water retention basin "Reaching Our World" - Seeding our next Davisville missions team "Strengthening Our Base" - Paying down our construction debt
Little did I know when I made the presentation that I would have an immediate response. As I left the stage that day and returned to my seat, a brother in Christ, named Joe, put his hand on my shoulder and asked if we could talk for a minute right after the service. God was already working in ways we couldn't see or even imagine.
When I spoke with Joe, he told me that he believed God was prompting him to offer his assistance with one of our Giving By Grace goals - the water retention basin. He explained to me that his family was in the excavation business and that they would work with us to dramatically reduce our costs to build the basin. I left William Tennent High School that afternoon praising God for His amazing grace!
In 2004 when the Upper Southampton Township Board of Supervisors approved our construction plans for the expansion of our Davisville Church facility, one of the conditions was that we would build a water retention basin to control water run-off within the next ten years. In 2004, the builder's estimated cost for this retention basin was approximately $400,000. Over six years later, the result of our discussions with Joe is that the estimated cost to complete the basin if done next spring would be $250,000. That is a savings of almost 40%!
Now that the badly needed sound system is completed and paid for, the elders believe the time is right to pursue this second Giving By Grace goal. Lord willing, they would like to see the basin completed by next summer. This would fall well within the time frame required by the township, and would eliminate the $5,000 a year that we must pay for a township required letter of credit.
God has already provided the funds for the sound system through our giving, and has reduced the cost of the retention basin. What blessing does He have in store for us next? Only He knows, but as we continue to depend on Him let's give together to make this next Giving By Grace goal a reality.
We serve and awesome God!
